Let the spoiling begin.

I absolutely love having overnight guests.

There's something about the anticipation as you scrub the house, the privilege of opening your home to someone, and trying to spoil them a little. I get so excited every time.

This time was just a little different. Instead of having 1 or 2 guests, we had 9.

7 little chickadees and their 2 brave parents.

So we made beds on couches.

And beds on the floor.

And somehow, everyone slept through the night. 11 of us under one little roof. That may be a first for this house.

In the morning, we awoke to 7 happy little bedheads.

We ate apple cake on the porch in the gorgeous morning light.

We even took a little field trip to the garden to pick tomatoes.

Then we bid farewell to our dear friends.

(But we will get to see them again in 2 weeks!)
